Lecture by James Morton Successful Beekeeping with Resistant Mites. James Morton is our local bee inspector and will be talking about this important subject. The Varroa mite is becoming resistant to present treatments and it is vital that beekeepers adjust treatments to combat this resistance. Lecture - Varroa Destructor Norman Carreck from IACR (Institute Agricultural Crop Research) Rothamstead. This will be a most vital and interesting lecture to all beekeepers. Norman will show us the progress that Scientists are making in the fight against varroa. Did you know that there are certain moulds around that kill the varroa mite ? North London Beekeepers Honey Show Honey judge, Nick Grey, will be judging our efforts again this year and awarding cups and prizes. This will be an OPEN JUDGING and he will explain what he is doing and why he is making his decisions. After the awards are made there will be tea or coffee and hopefully there will be competitors honey for us all to try and find out why he made his selection. Please will competitors allow others to taste one of their honey jars to make this an interesting evening. Nicks judging should also help you prepare or even improve the presentation of your honey products for the National Honey Show on 14 - 16 November. All the competitors at North London BeeKeepers Honey show are strongly encouraged to enter their Honey at the National Show . But please note that entries and registration for the National Honey Show has to be made by at least by 1 October which is BEFORE this North London BeeKeepers Show.
