Of Hives and Hombres - a film about the cultural and biological significance of stingless bees in the Yucatan, Mexico. Seiran Sumner will give a preview of her film and talk about how she came to make this interesting film.

Dartington Long Deep Hive.
Robin Dartington will be there to demonstrate with a live colony of bees the advantages of using his long deep hive. There will also be an empty hive for all to explore and vigorous discussion on the merits of this type of hive.
Protective clothing needed.

Regents Park Evening Walk

Wednesday 11 June 6.30 pm
Trip round the Nature Study Centre in Regents Park. Tony Duckett the chief nature officer will take us round and show us the different birds and water fowl. Meet at the Boat House Cafe at 6.30 pm sharp for an evening nature walk that will leave at 6.45 pm. Limited to 20 . Booking details will be sent to members nearer the date.

Many interesting stalls and lots of live music which continues till 7.00 pm. Our North London Beekeepers stall is a big attraction. A good day out for all the family.

BeeKeepers Bash Celebration Dinner.

Moyra Davidson will be our Honey Judge this year. To encourage members to enter products North London Beekeepers are holding a Celebration Dinner to follow the competition. Bring your family to cheer if you win a prize and a bottle of your favourite beverages to drown your sorrows if you don’t. Prizes for the Honey Show will be presented by Moyra at the dinner. A new social occasion for us all when offers of catering help will be needed.

Competitors at our Honey Competition are strongly encouraged to enter their Honey at the National Honey show 13 - 16 November. Please note that entries and registration for the National Honey Show has to be made by at least by 1 October. Full details and tickets for the dinner will follow nearer the time. All exhibits to be at the hall by 4.30 pm. or given previously to Nicky Faith or John Hauxwell

"Bee research at the Laboratory of Apiculture & Social Insects"

by Dr. Francis L. W. Ratnieks, Professor of Apiculture, Laboratory of Apiculture , University of Sheffield. The Laboratory of Apiculture & Social Insects is the largest bee and social insect research group in the country and investigates a wide range of topics in bee behaviour by doing research as far afield as South Africa, Thailand, Australia, Mexico and Brazil.
